Forming Hearts and Minds
St. James Lutheran is a Preschool–8th grade school serving Greater Lafayette area families. Our passion for education began in 1850 in a one room school house and, while much has changed, our dedication to sharing our Christian faith and love with all who walk through our doors has remained unchanged. Beginning in the Fall of 2025, St. James will begin transitioning to the timeless Christ-Centered Classical Education model.
Classical Lutheran education for Greater Lafayette families
St. James pairs joyful Christian formation with rich academics, small classes, and a school community where students are known and loved.
Christological
We endeavor to train devoted disciples of Christ, equipped with a biblical worldview by which they are able to evaluate the entire range of their experiences in light of the unchanging Word of God.
Classical Tradition
We offer a rich and holistic approach to learning by integrating faith, reason, and virtue while cultivating critical thinking, eloquent expression, and a deep appreciation for truth, beauty, and goodness.
Known and Loved
Small classes, joyful culture, and year-round opportunities for relationships help our school community feel more like a family.
Excellent Outcomes
We disciple students to a lifelong passion for learning, thoughtful leadership, and confident communication grounded in wisdom and faithful service.
Why a Classical Education?
A St. James education not only prepares students intellectually but also shapes their character, fostering wisdom and moral integrity for a life of faithful service.
